Understanding Communication

What is it really like to communicate?

Is it the feeling where you speak less, yet the other person understands the most?

Or is it simply the need for someone to lend you an ear?

We all pass through a process of coding and decoding in every conversation.

At times, we don’t fully understand what is being said; instead, we assume, interpreting it in our own way just to keep the dialogue moving.

One aspect of communication we often overlook is how we speak to ourselves.

How do you live with yourself-what little lies do you tell yourself?

What dreams make you happy?

Will you wake up early tomorrow, as you promised?

We struggle daily to communicate with others, while few are those who truly understand us-by reading our body language, or by looking into our eyes.

Amidst all this, the story you tell yourself eventually becomes your reality, forming a major part of your personality. Thus, it becomes vital to be aware of what you are saying to yourself during crucial or even simple, repetitive moments.Because over time, your mind will stop asking you the important questions-trusting only your mechanical, rehearsed answers.

In doing so, it bypasses crucial protocols, much like a reflex action-not to save you from danger, but to free you from the discomfort of choosing.

Finally, communication is ultimately about what you choose-and choose not-to say to yourself, and eventually, to others.
