Places where I’ve found love

Places where I’ve found love

I love to observe, submerge into the background and notice the uncanny details. And like valiant mentors, they have been making me smile ever since. Be it the pockmarked dosa I had for breakfast or the glinting sunlight catching the fi bres of my book.

They provide me with a pace, slowing me down accordingly and unconsciously, keeping my anxiety at check. These buffers, I would like to share with everyone. They might be common for some or a completely out of the blue remark, but they are the incognito soldiers of our life.

The art of noticing these small instances; of the gurgling of bubbles in a fi sh tank, or the stray fl ower petal on a brick path, or the theatrical shadows that keep us vividly entranced; make us the main characters of the story - how the protagonist in peril stops in track to notice the mundane and fi nds the key to the distressed.

The little things- the coordinated colour palette of our bracelets and shoes provides a confi dence boost to us throughout the day; they, somehow, become the highlight of our day. To notice is to perceive. We feed on information all day, terming it as Ubiquitous Assimilation. But to no end it offers us any value. Then how come this small array of events happens? The simple explanation is, they don’t. We attach value to them, we become the artists refi ning the raw materials, the poets choosing their muse. We thank these small lessons for simply existing, for being so bewitching, for empowering us. But forget that we, too, are included in those small moments.

In a habit of appreciating them, we start appreciating us too, in this too large to handle scheme of life.
